Many Japanese women incorporate skin fasting into their skincare routine. They periodically stop using their usual skincare products and switch to Vaseline!

J-Beauty Skin Fasting Trick

1. Wash & cleanse your face normally.
2. Apply a very small amount of Vaseline only.
3. Repeat this for 5 – 7 days for best results.
4. Go back to your usual skincare routine/products afterwards.

1. Prepare a steamed towel.

5. Rinse it off gently with lukewarm water as soon as you wake up!

 * When you repeat this for 2-3 days, you may see clean pores 😉

 

J-Beauty DIY trick –  Vaseline® Scrub

You can also create your own scrub with Vaseline.

1. Mix Vaseline, honey and sugar (ratio 1:1:2)
2. Mix honey and sugar first, then add Vaseline.
3. Apply it onto the nose and gently massage.
4. Rinse with lukewarm water.

* It feels gentle on the skin – I love it personally!

Many people wonder if Vaseline is really safe but not to worry.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using Vaseline® to

And personally I have sensitive skin and have been using Vaseline for decades (+25 years).

Dos & Don’ts of Vaseline

 

Here’s a couple of tips on using Vaseline safely.

 

Dos

(1) Use cotton swabs, mini spatulas or spoons to scoop Vaseline out (not fingers)

– This helps avoid bacteria/sebum going into the pot –  keep it as clean as possible.

(2) Store it in a cool/dry place and use up the pot as quickly as possible

 – Once opened, Vaseline gets oxidised and with time it becomes yellowish. If you see that happening, simply scrape the old part out and use fresher Vaseline underneath.

 

Don’ts

(1) Stop using if your skin feels irritated

(2) Don’t sunbathe with Vaseline on

– when Vaseline is exposed to sunlight, it can burn the skin

(3) Don’t use Vaseline on acne

– if you have oily skin, you also want to be careful to not use too much
